Myocardial strain analysis with CMR in cardiotoxicity patients using deformation field analysis: Comparison to healthy volunteers and heart transplant patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Noninvasive monitoring of cardiac function in patients with iatrogenic or environmentally-induced cardiotoxicity is of prime importance as a measure of disease severity. Strain imaging at cardiac MR (CMR) has been previously shown to be a highly robust modality in the detection of early cardiac dysfunction in the heart failure population. However, strain analysis has not previously been applied in the assessment of cardiotoxicity patients. The purpose of this study is to compare radial and circumferential LV strain values in patients with known cardiotoxicity to healthy volunteers and post-heart transplant patients, and to then correlate the cardiotoxicity strain values to calculated LV ejection fractions.

Comparison of heart deformation analysis and cine DENSE in volunteers and heart failure patients
Background Post-processing methods have been developed to quantify myocardial strain from steady-state free-precession (SSFP) cine images. In the left ventricle (LV), global strain measurements from SSFP in healthy volunteers and in some types of heart disease compare favorably with myocardial tagging as a reference. We compared heart deformation analysis (HDA) of SSFP images and cine Displacem...
متن کاملCardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking: a novel method of assessing myocardial strain. Comparison with echocardiographic speckle tracking in healthy volunteers and in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy
Background: Left ventricular longitudinal strain (LV-LS) and strain rate (SR) are sensitive markers of early systolic dysfunction. Aim: To evaluate the feasibility of a novel, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) based method known as feature tracking (FT) for the assessment of strain and SR, and to compare the CMR based results to those obtained on standard transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in ...
متن کاملFeature tracking cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for the evaluation of myocardial strain in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and in healthy controls
Background In clinical routine, quantification of myocardial strain using CMR tagging is currently the gold standard. Additional pulse sequences for the generation of tagged images and specialized software for the quantification of myocardial strain is necessary, so that alternative ways using conventional steady-state-free-precession (SSFP) sequence images would be preferable. This advantage m...
متن کاملAge- and gender-related normal left ventricular deformation assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance feature tracking
BACKGROUND Assessment of left (LV) ventricular function is one of the most important tasks of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). Impairment of LV deformation is a strong predictor of cardiovascular outcome in various cardiac diseases like ischemic heart disease or cardiomyopathies. The aim of the study was to provide reference values for myocardial deformation derived from the CMR feature...
متن کاملMyocardial strain analysis in patients with Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction using bright blood cine MR images: A comparison with speckle-tracking echocardiography
Background Changes in myocardial strain parameters is of interest in patients with heart failure as an objective measure of disease severity. Speckle-tracking echocardiography (STecho) is the accepted standard of reference for myocardial strain analysis given superior temporal resolution; however, difficult acoustic windows and limited contrast to noise resolution can limit strain analysis. Pre...
